About The Position

The Lift Truck Operator (LTO) is responsible for receiving yarn, locating it into the warehouse, and ensuring its proper handling and storage. This role involves operating a lift truck to move yarn trailers, scan cases, and stack yarn according to specific guidelines to prevent damage and contamination. The LTO also plays a role in reporting damages and maintaining inventory accuracy.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a lift truck (LTO/Squeeze).
  • Familiarity with inventory systems (e.g., Shopflex, UNIVAX).
  • Ability to read and follow instructions for receiving and locating yarn.
  • Attention to detail to prevent damage and contamination.
  • Ability to stack yarn boxes and stretch-wrapped yarn according to specific guidelines.
  • Ability to fill out checklists and reports.
  • Basic understanding of inventory management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Yarn Receiving Reports.
  • Knowledge of Shaw Industries' specific procedures (e.g., SH201P).

Responsibilities

  • Receive yarn by obtaining IPT from Yarn Clerks and using the Shopflex system to log trailer information and assign locations.
  • Unload yarn trailers, ensuring the trailer number shows a dock location in Shopflex before unloading.
  • Locate yarn into the warehouse by scanning cases and location signs.
  • Transport yarn to warehouse locations, taking precautions to prevent damage or contamination, such as repairing cases and avoiding dragging or sliding.
  • Repack damaged yarn cases in boxes if they cannot be repaired.
  • Stack yarn boxes and stretch-wrapped yarn according to specified stacking heights and configurations.
  • Mark the lot number, initials of locator, number of cases, date, and location on a case at the end of each row.
  • Fill out a Damaged Trailer checklist sheet if damages are found on a trailer.
  • Notify the spotter to put a damaged trailer out of service.
  • Notify the supervisor and lead of any damages.
  • Assist with unloading trailers if the clerk is busy, has a backlog, or if tufting needs yarn.
  • Operate a lift truck (LTO/Squeeze).
