About The Position

The Lift Truck Operator (LTO) is responsible for receiving yarn, unloading yarn trailers, and locating yarn into the warehouse. This role involves meticulous record-keeping, careful handling of materials to prevent damage, and adherence to specific stacking and labeling procedures. The LTO will also be responsible for identifying and reporting damaged goods and ensuring the proper maintenance of inventory records.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a lift truck.
  • Proficiency in using Shopflex system for inventory management.
  • Accurate record-keeping skills for logging IPT information and damages.
  • Attention to detail to prevent damage and ensure correct placement of yarn.
  • Ability to follow specific stacking and labeling procedures.
  • Physical ability to handle yarn cases, including making repairs and repacking.
  • Understanding of safety procedures for handling materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with yarn handling and warehouse logistics.
  • Familiarity with Shaw's specific inventory and receiving procedures (e.g., IPT, Shopflex).

Responsibilities

  • Receive yarn by verifying IPT (Interplant Transfer) information and logging details on the Yarn Receiving Report.
  • Unload yarn trailers by coordinating with shuttle drivers (spotters) and ensuring trailer numbers are correctly logged in the Shopflex system.
  • Locate yarn into the warehouse by scanning cases and location signs, assigning locations to each yarn lot.
  • Assist with unloading trailers during busy periods or when there is a backlog, or if tufting requires immediate yarn supply.
  • Prevent damage or contamination to yarn during transport by making repairs to cases, avoiding dragging or sliding cases, and using caution during all movements.
  • Repack damaged yarn cases that cannot be repaired.
  • Stack yarn in warehouse locations according to specific guidelines (e.g., 4 high with 2 on top offset for boxes, 3 high with 2 on top offset for 36 cones stretch wrap, 2 high with 1 on top offset for 48 cones stretch wrap).
  • Mark the lot number, initials of locator, number of cases, date, and location on one case at the end of each row.
  • Complete the Damaged Trailer checklist sheet and notify the spotter, supervisor, and lead if damages are found on a trailer after unloading.
