About The Position

Lift Operations is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guests with excellent customer service on the mountain. In addition to maintaining lift stations and assisting guests onto carriers, lift operators are hosts and information centers. This is a physically demanding position requiring long hours and working in inclement weather. The Lift Operations Supervisors support the department staff and guests, as directed, in achieving the objectives of the department. This is a KEY member of the Dodge Ridge Team.

Requirements

• Lift operations experience.
• Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability required.

• Ability to read and to write legibly and to use good composition skills to complete records and report forms.

• Must be aware of the ski areas terrain and facilities.
• Possess the ability to safely ski/board within the designated routes.
• Ability to learn and be knowledgeable of the needs of the equipment and standard procedures for its care and safe operation.
• Safe operation of a snowmobile in a variety of terrain and snow conditions.
• Must be well groomed and present a good public image.
• Good physical condition as this position requires skiing/boarding, hiking, shoveling, lifting and carrying. Heavy and awkward lifting of 50lbs.
• Willingness to work during extreme weather conditions.
• Safety and risk oriented.
• Requires the skills of a host. This involves approaching guests in a courteous manner, inquiring if they have any questions and being able to respond professionally.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program.
• Arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.
• Provide some uniform items: Watch, Sunglasses, Goggles, Gloves, Knife, Warm boots with Vibram soles, Ski / snowboard equipment and ski bindings that pass a binding function test.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all lift stations, including lift operator lunch/bathroom breaks and ramp maintenance.
• Plan, prepare, deliver, document and file all training on lift operators.
• Assist lift maintenance under their direction and training.
• Prepare lift operators for inspections and interviews from State, USFS and Insurance Company.
• Ensure all lifts and mountain are operational and that the operating personnel are equipped and fit to perform their duties.
• Employee performance documentation.
• Review daily, all lift incident report forms and report any potential problems to the lift operations manager.
• Follow ANSI B77.1 requirements.
• Conduct accident investigations.
• Documentation of safety meetings.
• Enforcement of safety rules.
• Safe operation of our transport snow cat on designated routes.
• Daily employee appearance inspections.
• Communication with other departments.
• Demonstrate an on-going commitment to delivering excellent customer service by interacting with guests in a courteous manner, and being able to answer questions professionally.
• Working knowledge of emergency plan.
• Maintain clean, safe and professional workstations.
• Maintain any appropriate records as set forth by company policy and procedures.
• Recognize and correct any safety hazards within the lift operations department.
• Shoveling snow, sometimes heavy wet snow. Heavy and awkward lifting of items up to 50 lbs. Walking and working on uneven ground, deep powder, icy and wet surfaces.
• Provide timely and accurate information concerning weather conditions, grooming or slope conditions.
• Communicate problems to superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine and emergency matters.
• Provide a positive and helpful attitude towards all customers and employees.
• Support the Company’s policies and procedures.
• Support the harmony and goodwill of the Company.
• Be an effective team leader and motivator for the department.
