Lift Operations Supervisor

Tenney Resort & Recreation LLCPlymouth, NH
$23 - $25Onsite

About The Position

At Tenney, lift operations are about more than getting people from the bottom of the mountain to the top. It's about keeping things safe, organized, efficient-and making sure our guests have a great experience from the moment they enter the corral to the moment they step off the chair. We're looking for a Lift Operations Supervisor who can lead from the front, keep a crew engaged, and stay cool when the mountain gets busy. You'll be the go-to leader for our Lift Attendants, making sure everyone knows where they need to be, what they need to do, and-most importantly-how to do it safely. If you like working outside, leading a team, solving problems on the fly, and being part of the action on the mountain, this could be your spot.

Requirements

  • Previous ski resort, lift operations, or supervisory experience is preferred, but the right attitude, leadership skills, and willingness to learn go a long way.
  • Work outdoors for extended periods in cold, snowy, windy, and changing weather.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, reach, climb stairs, and move throughout lift loading and unloading areas.
  • Lift and carry equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Work safely around moving lifts and other mountain equipment.
  • Respond appropriately to changing weather and operational conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • A natural leader who isn't afraid to get involved.
  • Comfortable giving direction and holding people accountable.
  • Organized enough to manage schedules, staffing, and changing priorities.
  • Calm and decisive when things get busy.
  • A strong communicator who knows when to speak up and when to listen.
  • Serious about safety without taking the fun out of the job.
  • Comfortable working closely with other mountain departments.
  • Willing to spend the day outside-yes, even when it's snowing sideways.
  • Someone who understands that a well-run lift operation makes everyone's day better.
  • Flexibility is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation of Tenney's lifts and make sure established safety procedures are followed.
  • Lead Lift Attendants in proper loading, unloading, chair handling, and guest management.
  • Make sure employees are in the right positions, paying attention, and ready to respond when needed.
  • Keep lift corrals, mazes, loading areas, and unloading areas organized and safe.
  • Manage guest flow and help keep lift lines moving during busy periods.
  • Respond appropriately to falls, misloads, guest concerns, and other operational situations.
  • Maintain required lift operation logs and documentation.
  • Help coordinate emergency procedures and lift evacuations when needed.
  • Maintain strong communication with the Lift Maintenance team regarding lift starts, stops, equipment concerns, shutdowns, and reopening procedures.
  • Make sure Lift Attendants understand any equipment-specific operating requirements or restrictions communicated by Lift Maintenance.
  • Build daily and weekly Lift Operations schedules based on mountain needs.
  • Assign employees to lifts and operating positions.
  • Make sure every required position is properly staffed.
  • Monitor attendance and make sure employees show up on time and ready to work.
  • Adjust staffing throughout the day based on weather, crowds, lift demand, and changing conditions.
  • Coach Lift Attendants and provide regular feedback.
  • Address attendance, performance, safety, and conduct issues as they arise.
  • Keep Mountain Operations leadership informed of staffing challenges or concerns.
  • Train new Lift Attendants on operating procedures, safety, guest service, and Tenney-specific expectations.
  • Make sure employees demonstrate competency before working independently.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and refresher training throughout the season.
  • Reinforce proper chair handling and loading/unloading techniques.
  • Work with Lift Maintenance when employees need to understand equipment-specific procedures.
  • Keep training and certification records organized and up to date.
  • Make sure Lift Attendants are friendly, professional, helpful, and engaged.
  • Keep lift lines organized and moving.
  • Help guests navigate corrals and loading areas.
  • Address guest questions and concerns quickly and professionally.
  • Work with Ski Patrol and other Mountain Operations teams when guest safety or operational issues arise.
  • Balance efficiency with safety and good old-fashioned mountain hospitality.
