About The Position

Homewood Mountain Resort is seeking a Lift Mechanic I to join the Lift Maintenance Department. A Lift Mechanic I plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our ski lifts, contributing to the overall exceptional experience of our guests. Lift Mechanics perform routine maintenance and inspections, respond to lift issues or emergencies, maintain accurate records, and work with resort teams to keep lift operations running safely and smoothly.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems, preferably with experience in ski lift maintenance or a related field.
  • Safety Conscious: Strong commitment to safety practices and protocols, with the ability to prioritize safety in all aspects of the job.
  • Team Player: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
  • Physical Stamina: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions and at high elevations.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Resourceful and proactive approach to troubleshooting mechanical issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license and willingness to obtain relevant certifications for lift maintenance and operation.
  • Availability: Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours as needed, especially during peak ski season.
  • Professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, communication platforms, and reservation tools.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on ski lift equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues with ski lifts and implement effective solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards while conducting maintenance and repairs on ski lift machinery.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for regulatory compliance and historical reference.
  • Work closely with other lift mechanics, ski patrol, and resort management to coordinate maintenance schedules and address operational needs.
  • Respond promptly to any lift-related emergencies or malfunctions, following established protocols to ensure the safety of guests and staff.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills and stay current with industry best practices and advancements.
