About The Position

The mission of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is to welcome all to celebrate the American spirit in a setting that unites the power of art with the beauty of nature. Founded by philanthropist and arts patron Alice Walton, Crystal Bridges is a public non-profit charitable organization. Applicants must be registered with and actively participate in Lifestyles Inc, a long-standing Fayetteville Arkansas organization that provides adults with developmental disabilities access to independent living support, day programs, employment services, continuing education, and inclusive community experiences. The Lifestyles Internship offers immersive learning experience that supports intern engagement, visitor experience, and cross team collaboration at Crystal Bridges and the Momentary. The intern will report to the Internship Program and Engagement Manager, Chelta Wray, and will collaborate with staff across multiple departments to help coordinate experiences that are welcoming, organized, and aligned with museum standards. This role builds professional skills through real world projects and day-to-day tasks that contribute to a positive experience for guests, interns, and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about museum visitor services, guest resources, and public facing departments through guided training and observation
  • Assist staff with greeting visitors, offering a friendly welcome, and helping guests find locations or information within the museum
  • Support simple front of house tasks such as monitoring guest flow, tidying lobby or public areas, restocking materials, and assisting with basic wayfinding
  • Help prepare for programs and events by assisting with room set up, placing signage, organizing materials, and completing simple support tasks as directed
  • Observe and practice foundational customer service skills including communication, positive guest engagement, and basic problem solving
  • Provide entry level support to the Culinary team in areas such as greeting guests in food service spaces, offering general guidance, restocking items, or assisting with cashier responsibilities under staff supervision
  • Participate in training sessions, team check ins, and shadowing opportunities to build confidence and familiarity with museum and culinary operations
  • Complete simple administrative tasks such as organizing files, preparing materials, or entering basic information when requested
  • Work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, culinary team members, and program partners to help maintain a welcoming environment for all guests
  • Follow museum policies, safety guidelines, and expectations and maintain confidentiality of visitor and staff information
