About The Position

Reporting to the Lifestyle Manager, the Lifestyle Partner plays a key role in supporting the social, emotional, and physical well-being of residents by assisting with the planning, coordination, and delivery of daily lifestyle and wellness programs. This person actively engages with residents to ensure they participate in meaningful activities that foster a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community environment.

Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid and unrestricted Class “G” driver’s license with access to reliable transportation.
  • Valid and unrestricted Class F driver’s license (Ontario), or willingness to obtain at own expense.
  • Police Record Check (per RHA), including Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Immunization(s) and tuberculosis (TB) testing, per Brighton Retirement Living’s policy.
  • Experience working with seniors or in a hospitality and/or recreation setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creative, compassionate and enthusiastic with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff, residents, volunteers and residents’ families.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to read, write and comfortably communicate in English.
  • Ability to assist with physical aspects of activities (e.g. setting up chairs, assisting residents, etc.).
  • Basic computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or diploma in Recreation or Gerontology considered an asset.
  • Experience planning, organizing or managing events considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up, facilitating, and leading group and individual activities including games, arts and crafts, music sessions, fitness, cultural events, and outings.
  • Encourage and motivate resident participation, ensuring everyone feels included and valued.
  • Help prepare materials and spaces needed for daily programs.
  • Coordinate transportation, assist with mobility needs, and ensure residents are comfortably situated during activities.
  • Work closely with the Lifestyle Manager and other staff to ensure smooth coordination and execution of programs.
  • Plan, organize and submit for approval a monthly activity schedule offering a variety of activities, crafts and events.
  • Support special events, holiday celebrations, and community initiatives with enthusiasm and teamwork.
  • Support the promotion of events and daily programs through posters, announcements, or personalized invitations.
  • Share program details and updates with residents and families in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Assist with the content and publishing of a monthly newsletter for distribution to residents and their families.
  • Maintain participation records, activity logs, and basic reporting as directed.
  • Help track inventory of supplies and request materials when necessary.
  • Support the management of the volunteer program, including orientation, motivation and development of volunteers.
  • Build warm and respectful relationships with residents to understand their preferences and help tailor programs to their interests.
  • Support new residents in getting involved with community life and socializing with peers.
  • Observe residents during programs for changes in behavior or mood and report concerns to the Lifestyle Manager or nursing team.
  • Promote resident independence while offering assistance as needed.
  • Ensure activities comply with safety, infection control, and dignity standards.
  • Follow all facility policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Partner with community team to ensure community is in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and promotion of risk management programs and/or policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Practice safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire safety procedures including extinguishers, Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and lockout tagout procedures.
  • Report all accidents and incidents immediately.
  • Report all unsafe and hazardous conditions and/or equipment immediately.
  • Comply with all infection control techniques, placement of biohazard containers and removal techniques, procedures and policies.
  • Participate in fire safety and mock disaster procedures.
  • Works in a safe manner and ensures department operations are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, associated regulations, Legacy Living policies, procedures, and other associated legislation.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.
