About The Position

Lifeguards are responsible for the constant safety and well-being of all patrons at all times. This position is responsible for the supervision of swimmers and spectators, enforcement of safety protocols, and providing a fun and enjoyable environment for all. Must be able to identify life-threatening situations and act in a level-headed and appropriate manner during all emergencies. The following illustrates examples of some of the essential duties and responsibilities of the Part Time Lifeguard(Seasonal). There may be other essential functions, not listed below, in order to accomplish the tasks as presented by the Supervisor. Requirements

  • Must be 17 years old or older at time of application.
  • Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to positively interact with the general public.
  • Must have knowledge of life saving and first aid methods and techniques.
  • Must know how to operate modern life saving equipment.
  • Must have current and valid lifeguard/first aid certificate and CPR/AED certificate OR obtain said certificates within 90 days of hire.
  • Swimming proficiency as it pertains to the standards and training of the American Red Cross.

Nice To Haves

  • Water Safety Instructor’s Certificate (optional/recommended).

Responsibilities

  • Enforcing pool rules/regulations and protecting lives.
  • Patrolling and observing the pool area and rescuing swimmers in distress.
  • Administering First Aid and/or CPR as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of pool, pool deck, pool equipment, locker rooms, showers, and common areas at all times.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility.
  • Act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
  • Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high standard of customer service.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
  • All other duties as assigned and appropriate.
