About The Position
This is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt role for a Lifeguard. The position is onsite in Schenectady, NY, and reports to the Swimming & Diving/Aquatics Director. The lifeguard will be responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers and maintaining a safe pool environment. The college is committed to hiring the best colleagues and encourages applications even if not all preferred qualifications are met.
Requirements
- Must hold current Lifeguard Certification (Red Cross or equivalent)
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to stay focused and alert for extended periods
Nice To Haves
- Previous lifeguarding experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Supervise swimmers and maintain a vigilant watch over the pool area
- Enforce pool rules and safety regulations
- Respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies, including rescues and administering first aid/CPR as needed
- Conduct routine pool checks
- Assist with setting up and maintaining pool equipment--vacuuming, cleaning up the pool deck
