About The Position

The Lifeguard is responsible for safeguarding the lives of swimmers and assisting in maintaining and enforcing pool safety. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages, monitor swimmers at all times, and be a positive example to patrons. The Lifeguard will also be responsible for explaining and enforcing pool rules, providing information about facility use and hours, handling conflict and customer relations, and assisting with general maintenance and cleanup of facilities and restrooms. This position also involves submitting reports to the Pool Supervisor on accidents, damage, staff issues, and user complaints. Attendance is an essential function of the job, and the employee is expected to exhibit the City of Harker Heights’ Core Values.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of age.
  • Current lifeguard certification.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Texas Driver’s license.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Visual awareness.
  • Ability to relate rules and directions.
  • Ability to provide support and encouragement to swimmers.
  • Ability to communicate with the Aquatic Supervisor and the City of Harker Heights Parks and Recreation Department.

  • Submitting reports to Pool Supervisor on accidents, damage to facilities and equipment, problems among staff, and complaints from facility users.
  • Attending work as an essential function of the job.
