About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking safety-focused, full-time Professional Lifeguards to ensure the safety of members and program participants at our Chickahominy, Shady Grove, Patrick Henry, and Powhatan locations. This position requires 35 hours of direct service guarding.

Requirements

Ability to swim 300 yards.
Ability to tread-water for 2-minutes.
Safety-minded attitude.

Possess and continuously practice lifesaving skills and knowledge.

Strong communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to successfully implement YMCA of Greater Richmond safety standards and facility Emergency Action Plan.
Current CPR-Pro, AED, First Aid, and YMCA/Red Cross/Ellis lifeguard certifications.
Must hold O2 certification or obtain it within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Previous lifeguarding and aquatic experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee the safety, cleanliness, and order of lap pools, family pools, and surrounding areas.
Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of pool equipment.
Be trained in and knowledgeable about emergency procedures set forth by the YMCA of Greater Richmond.
Follow all procedures and record and report all accidents and incidents to Director.
Serve as a role model for part-time aquatics staff and may assist with training other employees.
