Requirements

• Lifeguard certification (YMCA or Red Cross) or ability to obtain
• Ability to stay alert and respond calmly in high-pressure situations
• Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset
• Must meet physical requirements of lifeguarding (swimming, endurance, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area to ensure a safe, positive environment
• Enforce pool rules and YMCA safety policies
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and water rescues
• Complete safety checks and maintain accurate incident reports
• Build positive relationships with members, participants, and staff
• Assist with cleaning, equipment checks, and maintaining pool readiness
• Attend required trainings and proactively communicate scheduling needs
