About The Position

As a Lifeguard at the Green Bay Kroc Center, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers and enforcing regulations within the Aquatics Center. This role involves monitoring activities, preventing accidents, providing assistance to swimmers, and maintaining the cleanliness and general facility maintenance of the pool areas. The Lifeguard will also assist with programs, special events, and swim lessons, ensuring adherence to the Wisconsin-approved aquatic staffing plan and The Salvation Army's mission.

Requirements

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to address multiple projects in a timely manner while being responsive and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Exercise good judgment in personal actions, personnel management, and professional matters.
  • Physically active in an aquatics environment; to stand; walk; sit; swim; tread water; complete physical requirements as defined by American Red Cross Lifeguard certification; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must agree that they will do nothing as an employee of The Salvation Army to undermine its religious mission.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of continuous experience in lifeguarding in a group environment preferred.
  • Experience working with adults, youth, and children.
  • Waterpark Certification preferred; must be completed upon hire.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Considerately and patiently enforce Kroc rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors and employees.
  • Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions.
  • Maintain order in swimming areas.
  • Analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action; maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger.
  • Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and provide first aid and CPR when needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of swimming pool areas.
  • Provide great customer service to the community; see that all customers, clients and members are given prompt and courteous service.
  • Ensure that all equipment assigned to the aquatic facilities is maintained and properly inventoried on a regular basis, and report defects, necessary repairs, etc. to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform set up and breakdown of facility equipment as needed.
  • Implement water chemical tests as determined by the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain records regarding programs and operations as needed.
  • Participate in designated staff training and professional development courses, including regular in-service training sessions.
  • Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Aquatics Staff Manual.
  • Assist with the implementation of programs, special events, and swim lessons.
  • Monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, protect life and enforce regulations.
  • Ensure they are positioned in accordance with the State of Wisconsin approved aquatic staffing plan.
  • Assist with general facility maintenance and perform other maintenance and cleaning duties as assigned.
