About The Position
The Rookery Activity Center is hiring lifeguards to work in its aquatic area, which includes an indoor lap pool and a zero-depth entry pool with a waterslide and water play feature. The lifeguard will be responsible for ensuring the safety of members and guests, recognizing and responding to emergencies, and maintaining professional communication. The position offers paid lifeguard certification renewal and a free membership to the Rookery Activity Center.
Requirements
- Current lifeguard certification or ability to obtain prior to hire (American Red Cross certification required)
- Pass a swim and water skill assessment.
- Desire and ability to work in and around water.
- Must be 15 years of age or older
Nice To Haves
- Preferred experience working at a pool or waterpark.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of patrons, recognize emergencies and respond effectively according to training.
- Enforce all facility policies, rules and regulations.
- Communicate with members and guests in a professional manner.
- Regularly participate in in-service training sessions.
- Maintain lifeguard certification requirements to keep certification current.
- Perform general maintenance and janitorial duties to ensure an orderly, friendly, clean and safe environment for guests, co-workers and the general public.
- Arrive on time for shift and maintain timesheet with accurate number of hours worked.
- Find substitute to cover shift if an absence is necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Supervisor.
