About The Position

The Lifeguard is responsible for the safety of guests in and near the pool area. The role also supports aquatic programming, guest service, facility cleanliness, ticket sales, and event supervision at Safari Island Community Center.

Requirements

Current American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Training certification and First Aid, CPR/AED for Lifeguards certification, or ability to complete training and earn certification within 30 days of hire.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work well with others.
Must be at least 16 years old.

Responsibilities

Enforce pool rules and venue policies and procedures.
Prevent injuries, minimize hazardous situations, and provide patron surveillance whenever guests are swimming.
Respond to injuries, accidents, and emergencies, contacting the Senior Lifeguard for assistance as needed.
Instruct people of various ages in swimming, water safety, and other aquatic programming.
Complete assigned cleaning duties and perform regular indoor and outdoor walk-throughs to maintain venue cleanliness.
Attend scheduled in-service training.
Provide courteous guest service, greet guests, and provide information and wayfinding assistance.
Operate the ticket sales booth and handle cash.
Stay knowledgeable about facility programs, including their format, pricing, and meeting dates and times.
Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding guest and team member information.
Professionally resolve guest concerns and complaints or direct them to the appropriate manager.
Supervise events and enforce rules during them.
Complete special projects, daily assignments, and other duties as assigned.
Arrive at work on time.
