About The Position

Lifeguards are responsible for implementing water safety policies and procedures, and supervising members and guests in and around the swimming pool area. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the pool and surrounding areas, assisting with minor injuries, enforcing rules, and organizing pool activities. The position also includes administrative tasks such as record-keeping and attending meetings.

Requirements

Lifeguard certification
First Aid/CPR certification
Must be able to sit on lifeguard stand for 50 minute time frames
Must be able to stay in sun for 8-10 hrs a day
Must be able to swim as needed for rescues

Responsibilities

Implement all water safety policies and procedures.
Supervise members/guests in and around the swimming pool area.
Vacuum pool bottoms.
Empty automatic skimmers.
Skim bugs and other debris from the pool surface.
Supervise and observe swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
Administer to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises of swimmers.
Maintain amenities and cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms, and showers.
Assist in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by the Fitness Supervisor.
Check first aid supplies and report needed items.
Enforce rules of conduct.
Organize and monitor pool games at all times.
Place rescue tube and ring buoy on the lifeguard chair in the morning and at the end of the day return these and all swimming aids and pool toys to the lifeguard locker.
Straighten the pool and other areas at the end of the day.
Maintain all necessary records determined by the Athletic Director.
Attend all meetings as directed by the Athletic Director.
