About The Position

Join the Sarasota County Lifeguard Team and make a difference by protecting our beaches. This is a full-time opportunity for individuals passionate about serving the community, enjoying outdoor work, and possessing strong swimming skills. The hiring event offers the chance to meet hiring managers, complete a tryout and interview, and potentially receive a conditional job offer on the spot. The starting pay rate is $20.10-$21.31/hour, with an additional $1.50/hour for current, valid State of Florida EMT-B certification. Excellent benefits are included, such as paid time off, holiday pay, and Florida Retirement System (FRS) participation.

Requirements

Strong swimming skills.
Ability to complete a 500-meter pool swim test in 10:00 minutes or less, or be able to meet this requirement within 30 days of hire.
Completion of the swim test is required for employment consideration.
Ability to present I-9 Acceptable Documents for identity and work authorization.
Ability to present a U.S. Social Security Card (signed, physical card).
If a Florida Driver’s License is required, it must be presented as one of the I-9 documents.

Nice To Haves

Prior beach lifeguarding experience.
Current, valid State of Florida EMT-B certification.

Responsibilities

Protect our beaches as a Sarasota County Beach Lifeguard.
Successfully complete a 500-meter pool swim test (must be completed in 10:00 minutes or less, or be able to meet this requirement within 30 days of hire).
Participate in an in-person interview.
Complete required first-day documents including I-9 acceptable documents and a U.S. Social Security Card.
