Lifeguard PT (Temporary)
About The Position
The City of Brooklyn Center is looking to fill temporary part-time lifeguard positions for the Community Pool. This position will conclude December 12 upon pool closure; lifeguards who perform well will be eligible for rehire upon reopening of the pool for the 2027 Summer season. The primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of the patrons at the Brooklyn Center Community Center pool. The Community Center is open Monday through Saturday. Lifeguards are scheduled 7:45 a.m.-9:15 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7:45 a.m.-8:15 p.m. Saturday. We are looking for candidates that can work evenings and Saturdays. Lifeguards will be required to be available to cover two weekend shifts per month based on business needs for public safety.
Requirements
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certificate
- American Red Cross Standard First Aid
- Must be at least 15 years old

Responsibilities
- Prevention of and quick response to any emergencies
- Maintain safety of all individuals in the pool area (including locker rooms, exercise room and sauna)
- Maintain a positive, helpful attitude with all building staff and public
- Maintain an appropriate and professional appearance at all times
- Maintain an appropriate level of fitness
- Enforce and follow all facility policies, rules and regulations
- Inspect the facility on a daily basis and report unsafe conditions and equipment to supervisors
- Remain current in all certifications
- Complete all records and reports in a timely manner
- Participate in all staff meetings
- Perform daily operational tasks
- Work all assigned shifts or find an approved substitute
- Comply with Minnesota Department of Health standards, practices and requirements for public pool safety and regulations mandated by local, state and federal agencies
- Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor
