Lifeguard I (Temporary/Multiple Vacancies)
About The Position
The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking several part-time, temporary Lifeguards for the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center. This role involves monitoring two bodies of water, including a 50-meter pool and a leisure pool with water features. Lifeguards will work on deck or in chairs, providing primary protection against water-related injuries and ensuring the safety of all aquatic participants. The Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center offers a 50-Meter FINA compliant pool, a Leisure Pool with in-water activities, a lazy river, a fitness studio, community rooms, and wet-classrooms.
Requirements
- Must have the ability to swim proficiently.
- Must possess an American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Must possess CPR, First Aid/AED certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment swim assessment.
- A pre-employment background check will be conducted.
Nice To Haves
- Experience as a Lifeguard.
- Possess a High School Diploma/GED.
- Possess a High School Diploma/GED.
- Possession of one or more of the following Certifications/Licenses preferred: American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) license.
- American Red Cross Water Attraction License.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO).
- CPR, AED, and FirstAid certifications.
Responsibilities
- Observing and enforcing pool rules and water safety policies among lifeguards and aquatic participants.
- Maintaining safe water quality through pool chemical checks.
- Assuring safety among the pool deck.
- Greeting patrons and guests.
- Attending all staff meetings and in-service training.
- Serving as an on-deck lifeguard to cover shifts or work a regularly scheduled on-deck shift.
- Providing emergency care and treatment.
- Completing incident/accident reports, shift reports, water emergency reports, and water chemistry logs.
- Ensuring compliance with County policies and procedures and Health and safety standards.
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
