About The Position

For the Summer Season starting June 1st, Suntree Country Club is seeking a positive, energetic, experienced, and highly capable professional who will ensure swimmers' safety in the pool area, administer first aid or lifesaving techniques when needed and be a camp counselor. The Lifeguard/Camp Counselor will report to the Assistant Events Director/Events Director.

Requirements

  • Exposure to extreme heat and humidity.
  • The schedule varies to the needs of the Club. Weekends and holidays are required.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must possess the following certificates from the American Red Cross or other equivalent agency; lifeguard training, CPR, AED, and first aid.
  • Must be a skilled swimmer and able to pull their weight through the water.
  • Must be physically able to rescue someone drowning or injured in the water.
  • Ability to spend time outdoors and tolerate a variety of weather conditions.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, or squatting at eye level with children.
  • Must be a skilled swimmer and able to pull weight through the water.

  • Prolonged periods of being outdoors.
  • This position is needed from June 1st to September

Responsibilities

  • Implements all water safety policies and procedures; supervises members and guests in and around the swimming pool.
  • Open the pool each day and close it down each evening depending on your scheduled hours.
  • Skims bugs and other debris from surface to prepare pool for daily use.
  • Monitor pool-related activities closely throughout your shift.
  • Identify a safety issue and report them to the Director of Events immediately.
  • Enforces the rules of conduct.
  • Monitors weather reports closely to ensure the safety of members and guests.
  • Direct swimmers out of the pool in hazardous conditions.
  • Administers to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises of swimmers.
  • Checks the first aid supplies and reports needed items.
  • Organizes and monitors pool games at all times; suggests poolside games.
  • Places rescue tube and ring buoy on the lifeguard chair and backboard in plain view of patrons in the morning and at the end of the day; returns these and all swimming aids and pool toys to the lifeguard locker.
  • Organize the pool, pool deck, and cabana room area at the end of your shift.
  • Maintains all necessary records determined by the Director of Events.
  • Attends all meetings as directed by Director of Events.
  • Must comply with all rules and regulations as stated in the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be willing to adhere to policies/procedures of the Club's ongoing Safety Committee.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by management.
  • Clean gutters and skimmers.
  • Plans and leads activities such as arts, crafts, sports, games, camping, and hobbies.
  • Enforces camp rules and regulations and ensures safety in the recreational facilities.
  • Performs first aid following prescribed procedures and contacts emergency medical personnel when required by the situation.
  • Demonstrates use of recreational equipment and teaches participants the principles, techniques, and safety procedures for each activity.
  • Greets new arrivals and introduces them to other campers; explains camp and facility rules.
  • Reports camper complaints to leadership and works to resolve issues.
