The Lifecycle Engineer supports engineering life cycle management and planning for assigned Military Sealift Command (MSC) ships. This includes developing long-range plans, spanning 5–30 years, for maintenance, operation, repair, and TRANSALT support. The role provides ship-availability program management and technical support to MSC vessels and works with the Availability Management Team (AMT) on assigned work items. The engineer assists with observing, verifying, and reporting engineering requirements related to vessel maintenance, repair, and modification, providing observations, reports, and recommendations to the Principal Port Engineer (PPE). Technical services include engineering development and documentation in naval architecture, electrical, mechanical, and marine engineering. Work packages and studies support ships and upcoming availabilities by identifying replacement and repair solutions, upgrades, and improvements. The role also assists the AMT, Life Cycle Management Division Director, Engineering Type Desk, and PPE with the Shipboard Automated Maintenance Management and Port Engineer Information System (SAMM/PENG) Program, including preparation for availabilities and post-availability reports. Work may be performed at the contractor’s facility or remote work locations when supporting the division director, Engineering Type Desk, and PPE. For ship availabilities, work is performed in AMT office space at the assigned shipyard or, for some engineering work, at the contractor’s facility. The position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately.
