About The Position
Resources for Human Development (RHD) is seeking compassionate, dedicated Life Skills Professionals to join their team. This role involves supporting individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges in a residential setting. RHD emphasizes making a meaningful impact, building rewarding careers, and providing training and support for employees to thrive. No prior experience is required, and paid training is provided. RHD offers community-based services focused on empowering individuals towards independence, wellness, and recovery.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Basic computer and internet skills, including email and electronic documentation
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work with individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in human services, behavioral health, residential services, or related fields
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented support practices
Responsibilities
- Support individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges in a residential setting
- Assist with activities of daily living, including meal planning, meal preparation, shopping, and household tasks
- Encourage and support individuals in achieving their treatment, recovery, and personal goals
- Provide supervision, guidance, and skill-building opportunities that promote independence and quality of life
- Facilitate community involvement, appointments, recreational activities, and transportation needs
- Monitor and respond appropriately to crisis situations using trauma-informed practices
- Document services, activities, progress notes, medication records, and other required program documentation
- Collaborate with treatment teams, clinical staff, and supervisors to ensure individuals receive quality care
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all individuals served
- Monitor medications as assigned and follow all organizational policies and procedures
