About The Position

Flagship Lab Services is seeking a Life Science Facility Technician to join their dynamic and growing division in Cambridge, MA. Working for a dynamic Life Science building and reporting to the Facility Manager, the successful candidate will coordinate and/or perform the preventive maintenance and corrective repairs of utility systems, equipment, and grounds. The role involves performing routine maintenance work and assisting other Maintenance Technicians with corrective work orders, preventative maintenance, and manual tasks such as moving equipment, offices, and materials. Working under limited supervision, the technician monitors building system operations and performance with complete oversight of the building automation system. The position also supervises custodial staff, contractors, and employees as designated and provides best-in-class customer service. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
  • Two or more years of experience working in a laboratory, mechanical, wastewater, facilities maintenance or construction setting (if hired directly into this level position)
  • Ability to follow orders given orally and in writing
  • Ability to complete tasks and paperwork with basic supervision
  • Computer skills (i.e., excel, word, outlook)
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools and paint
  • Ability to stand, crouch, and climb to perform repairs, use ladder, and perform various types of manual labor
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Vision (with correction) sufficient for reading, performing repairs and painting
  • Authorized to work in the USA for any employer
  • Flexibility to travel between sites in the Greater Boston area as business demands

Responsibilities

  • Patch paint as required
  • Basic knowledge and ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and plumbing issues
  • Basic carpentry skills
  • Handle hot/cold calls and maintenance
  • Manage Building automation systems
  • Support and assist clients and tenants, with building communications and work coordination
  • Complete excel spreadsheets and work order systems
  • Perform report writing
  • Correspond with clients
  • Respond via email and text
  • Create work orders as needed
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations and corporate policies/procedures related to building operations and work safety
  • Perform and/or assist with corrective work orders and preventative maintenance work orders as directed
  • Conduct daily rounds and document meter readings as assigned
  • Assist in office/lab moves
  • Perform property-tending duties such as trash pick-up, bathroom clean-up/stocking, snow removal and sweeping/mopping
  • Perform wall repair and painting
  • Clean areas around buildings (laboratory space, property grounds, halls, loading docks, garages, etc.)
  • Communicate effectively via text, email, telephone, and face to face
  • Respond to daily Client/Tenant requests and internal company requests in a timely, professional manner
  • Prepare/receive packages and deliveries for Shipping/Receiving
  • Perform basic carpentry and installation: mounting a shelf, installing a picture or whiteboards, and simple repairs
  • Replace ceiling tiles and light bulbs
  • Maintain basic paperwork according to client/tenant needs
  • Monitor and manage building & lab management systems
  • Monitor automation systems
  • Escort vendors and contractors
  • Other duties as assigned
