About The Position

Flagship Lab Services is seeking a Life Science Technician II to join their dynamic and growing division. This is an intermediate level position, working under supervision, and assigned to different operations and service departments. The role involves performing unskilled Lab Services, Maintenance, Dock Services, and assisting with corrective work orders, preventative maintenance, and manual tasks such as moving equipment, offices, and materials. This will be accomplished by performing on-site routine maintenance and assisting with various essential duties.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
  • Six months prior work experience in a related work environment, illustrating good attendance, professional behavior, reliability.
  • Ability to follow orders given orally and in writing.
  • Ability to complete tasks and paperwork with basic supervision.
  • Computer skills (i.e., excel, word, outlook).
  • May require an ACTIVE driver’s license and personal vehicle.
  • Trained in safe hazardous waste handling of bio bins/bio-waste disposal.
  • Trained in cleaning and maintaining Decon equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of building & lab management systems.
  • Alarm monitoring and management.
  • Basic inventory and tool safety.
  • Monitoring automations systems.
  • Escort vendors and contractors.
  • DOT certification.
  • HAZMAT certification.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens certification.
  • General Lab Safety training.
  • General Maintenance and Lab Safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, clean, and maintain the following: hood traps, incubators (fill as needed), water baths
  • Assist team with content transfers in the instances of cold storage unit failures.
  • Monitor and dump waste containers.
  • Buffer preparation.
  • Maintain LN2 Freezer Pro and Cold Storage contact records (updated annually).
  • Glass wash/autoclave, stocking and replenishment of clean/sterilized materials as needed.
  • Work with team to close out workspaces of former employees (cold storage, bench, etc.) and prepare for inbound hires.
  • Maintain service tickets in the lab equipment service system for all lab equipment needs.
  • Interface with group and scientists to ensure service is completed and documented appropriately.
  • Submit and follow-through on all tickets for printer issues.
  • General lab housekeeping (lab clean outs, cardboard removal, etc.).
  • Process all pipettes for annual pipette calibration.
  • Other duties as assigned.
