About The Position

The Life Sales Manager will ideally reside and work in the surrounding territories of Bethlehem or Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This role involves training and guiding Agents in a designated branch territory and additional assigned branch offices in the promotion and sale of life insurance and annuity products. The manager will provide assistance in production, product knowledge and application, underwriting, and agency management. They will also help Agents examine their current books of business for potential prospects and serve as a company representative in maintaining favorable agency and Policyholder relationships. The scope of the Life Sales Manager role is assigned to one branch, while a Sr Life Sales Manager is assigned to multiple branches. The company provides a company car for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in insurance, sales, marketing or related field and five years’ experience in sales, investment and/or annuity products or in life insurance related experience; or Associate’s degree in insurance, sales, marketing or related field and seven years’ experience in sales, investment and/or annuity products or in life insurance related experience; or High School diploma or GED and nine years’ experience in sales, investment and/or annuity products or in life insurance related experience.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in sales of life insurance.
  • The incumbent must live in the state assigned unless a change is approved by the company.
  • Frequent overnight travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists branch managers and district sales managers in establishing short- and long-range objectives related to life insurance and annuity sales, with emphasis on production, underwriting and Agent training.
  • Provides training and direction to ERIE Agents regarding the promotion and sale of life insurance and annuity products. Interacts with Agents as necessary, educating them regarding approved marketing and sales tools and techniques.
  • Educates Agents regarding the products available through Erie Family Life, including policy features and benefits. Assists Agents in reviewing their current books of business in order to identify cross selling opportunities for life insurance and annuity sales. Collaborates with Agents to identify prospecting opportunities.
  • Accompanies Agents on sales calls and assists with servicing existing customers and writing new business.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Home Office and the field. Clarifies and resolves issues, implements new programs and communicates program changes as necessary.
  • Represents the company in community relations activities as directed.
  • Develops marketing and prospecting programs to assist Agents in the sale of life insurance and annuity products.
  • Collaborates with Home Office and Branch Office marketing personnel regarding the design and promotion of incentive campaigns related to the sales of life insurance and annuity products.
  • Assists in the selection and training of newly appointed Agents, life producers and customer service representatives.
  • Handles Agency relationships and business, as a licensed life insurance Agent, according to company policy.
  • Advises appropriate Home Office personnel of competitive intelligence issues related to Agents and agency management.
