About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Current Second Class FAA Medical certificate required
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with helicopter and instrument rating
  • Must have at least three (3) years experience, within past six (6 ) years, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under Part 135
  • Able to meet FAA qualifications as CFR14, Part 135 Chief Pilot

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a team of pilots at various locations throughout Memorial Hermann, coordinating aircraft maintenance with flight requirements.
  • Screens applicants and recommends prospective hires.
  • Trains, orients, and evaluates employees.
  • Plans employee work schedules to ensure adequate flight coverage consistent with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, hospital policies, and department operational goals.
  • Maintains all required FAA, hospital, and department forms, logs, and records.
  • Performs pilot job duties and responsibilities when scheduled or when necessary.
  • Coordinates aircraft maintenance with flight mission requirements to ensure optimum utilization of crews and equipment.
  • Performs maintenance test flights as required.
  • Conducts regular and spontaneous inspections of aircraft and aircraft facilities in accordance with FAA, hospital, and department regulations/policies.
  • Performs aero-medical program consultations and general public relations work as needed.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
