About The Position

The Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of a varied activity and educational programs designed to meet the requirements of LCS Lifestyles & Health Services and the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.

Requirements

  • Must be CPR, AED and First Aid certified.
  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting within the last five years is preferred.
  • At least one (1) year experience working in Assisted Living/Memory Care preferred.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting for approximately 60% of workday.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to push residents weighing up to 250 lbs. in wheelchairs.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases, HIV and Hepatitis B viruses, industrial and household chemicals, offensive odors and combative behavior.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Therapeutic Recreation is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with planning and coordinating activities and events, discussion groups & clubs, one on one activities, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, off-campus outings, special events, in-house movies, intergenerational programing, instructional courses; such as, arts & crafts, seminars, workshops, presentations; Active Aging Week, health & fitness activities, customized activities for Alzheimer/Dementia and Parkinson affected residents, marketing events, holiday parties; etc.
  • Completes monthly calendars and event flyers for scheduled activities.
  • Interviews and develops individual resident assessments to accurately provide recreational programs based on individual needs and resident interest.
  • Coordinates Resident Council and family meetings.
  • Arranges special meetings for residents and families to address special interests and provide educational opportunities.
  • Directs the movement of residents to and from recreational areas on and off campus.
  • Prepares and maintains pertinent reports, studies and schedules in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Assists with purchasing and keeping inventory of activity supplies and equipment.
  • Inspects recreational equipment to determine repair and maintenance needs and cleanliness.
  • Directs volunteer activities and provide training as needed.
  • Interprets the goals and objectives of the recreational program to staff, volunteers, relatives, and guests.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of residents’ progress and responses to programs in EMR System.
  • Coordinates events with other departments.
  • Participates in the research and preparation of department budget, including supplies and equipment.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or Health Services Director.
