About The Position

Heritage Senior Living is seeking a compassionate, patient, and energetic Life Enrichment Assistant with experience working with individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. This role is dedicated to creating purposeful, person-centered experiences that promote comfort, engagement, dignity, and joy for their Memory Care residents. The ideal candidate has a passion for memory care and understands how meaningful engagement can improve quality of life.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings and meet applicable state and federal training requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a Memory Care, dementia care, assisted living, skilled nursing, or healthcare setting.
  • Previous Memory Care or dementia care experience is strongly preferred and highly valued.
  • Experience leading activities for older adults preferred.
  • CNA certification is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of person-centered dementia care practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist with person-centered activities designed specifically for residents living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
  • Utilize dementia-specific programming techniques that promote engagement, reduce anxiety, and encourage positive interactions.
  • Build meaningful one-on-one relationships with residents through individualized visits and purposeful engagement.
  • Adapt activities to accommodate each resident's cognitive and physical abilities while celebrating their remaining strengths.
  • Provide sensory stimulation, music, reminiscence, life skills, exercise, and therapeutic activities that support overall well-being.
  • Encourage participation using redirection, validation, encouragement, and other dementia care best practices.
  • Assist residents to and from activities while maintaining a calm, reassuring, and supportive approach.
  • Monitor residents for changes in mood, behavior, or condition and communicate concerns promptly with nursing staff.
  • Assist with community outings and special events while ensuring resident safety and comfort.
  • Document resident participation and responses to activities in Point of Care (POC).
  • Maintain activity supplies and create inviting, dementia-friendly activity spaces.
  • Collaborate closely with caregivers, nursing staff, volunteers, and families to provide meaningful, individualized programming.
