About The Position

If so, Embark at Sunrise invites you to join our team as a Life Coach/Youth Mentor, a key role in our trauma-informed, residential treatment program for adolescent girls and boys ages 12-17. At Sunrise, we blend clinical excellence with heart. Set against the serene backdrop of southern Utah, our campus offers a safe, home-like environment where girls and boys ages 12–17 can heal, grow, and thrive. We specialize in relational, experiential, and evidence-based care that addresses trauma, emotional regulation, and family systems.

Requirements

  • Basic Requirements: Must be 21+ with a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record.
  • Safety & Certification: Able to pass a Utah State background check and obtain a Food Handler’s Permit before starting.
  • Crisis Readiness: Trained or willing to be trained in CPR, First Aid, and safe restraint techniques.
  • De-escalation Skills: Confident in managing and calming agitated or combative students.
  • Relationship Builder: Strong communication skills and the ability to form healthy, supportive connections.
  • Positive Role Model: Committed to teaching and modeling strong values and respectful behavior.
  • Long-Term Commitment: Willing to commit to a minimum of 8 months in a structured, team-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Support: Guide students through daily routines while modeling positive behavior and healthy habits.
  • Therapeutic Collaboration: Work closely with therapists to implement individualized interventions and support treatment goals.
  • Communication & Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation and relay key updates to the treatment team.
  • Crisis Management: Proactively ensure client safety through prevention, de-escalation, and supportive intervention.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in group sessions, staff bonding, and house activities to foster connection and trust.
  • Home Environment: Contribute to light housekeeping and meal prep, promoting a clean, nurturing space.
  • Professional Presence: Build rapport while upholding boundaries, creating a safe and respectful environment.
