About The Position

BWXT is currently seeking a Licensing & Safety Analysis Engineer! Does an exciting career in challenging and diverse nuclear technologies at an NRC Category 1 Licensee interest you? BWXT, Nuclear Operations Group-Lynchburg has an immediate opening for Licensing and Safety Analysis professional at our Lynchburg, VA facility.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Must have experience with NRC regs., particularly 10 CFR part 20,70,73, and/or 74, and guidance documents as well as (4) four year's related experience. (integrated safety analysis or process hazard analysis methodology preferred)
  • Must demonstrate a strong safety commitment.
  • Must demonstrate superior written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and directed, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Department of Energy (DOE) Q clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Administration of the NRC License SNM-42, VDH 680-028-1 and VDH 680-028-2.
  • Communications to the NRC and the state regulators.
  • Responsible for directing the Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) process, documenting and reporting the results of the analysis, and all licensing activities.
  • Coordinate the Change Review Board (CRB) activities and record keeping.
  • Coordinate NRC and insurance agent audits, visits, and inspections.
  • Assuring compliant record keeping.
  • Implement programs for Process Hazard Analysis, Safety Evaluation Request (SER), and Management of Change (MoC) for completeness.
  • Assessing the impact of potential facility changes to the NRC and VA State Licenses.
  • Interacting with front line supervisors, area management, NRC inspectors, and customer representatives in matters related to all aspects of nuclear safety and licensing.
  • Participating in emergency management organization.
