About The Position

First Physicians is a primary care and walk-in clinic serving Odessa and the Permian Basin, caring for patients of all ages. The Licensed Vocational Nurse provides hands-on patient care alongside physicians and other providers in a busy walk-in setting. The LVN prepares patients for visits, assists providers, administers medications, injections, and IVs, and helps patients feel informed and cared for.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program.
Active, unrestricted Texas LVN license.
Current BLS (CPR) certification.
Strong clinical skills, including injections and vital signs.
Caring, professional, and patient with every patient.
Organized and able to keep up with a busy clinic.

Responsibilities

Room patients and record vital signs, height, weight, and medical history.
Document visits accurately in Athena.
Administer medications, injections, and immunizations as ordered by the provider.
Start peripheral IVs and administer IV fluids and medications as ordered by the provider.
Perform point-of-care tests, including glucose, urinalysis, strep, flu, and COVID tests.
Draw blood and collect laboratory specimens.
Assist providers with exams and minor procedures.
Perform EKGs, wound care, and dressing changes.
Assist with DOT physicals and workers’ compensation visits, including drug screens and required paperwork.
Return patient calls as directed by providers.
Help with prior authorizations and referrals as needed.
Clean and stock exam rooms and maintain medical supplies.
Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines.
