LVN-Emergency Room Mid-shift
About The Position
Foothill Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and patient-focused Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our Emergency Department team. Serving Tustin, Santa Ana and other surrounding communities, Foothill Regional Medical Center is a fully accredited acute care hospital, licensed for 177 beds—120 beds for general acute care, 15 intensive care beds and 42 pediatric sub-acute beds. Our surgeons are supported by state-of-the-art robotics.
Requirements
- Current, active, and unrestricted California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license.
- Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to obtain IV Certification within 12 months of hire.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment.
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to remain calm and composed during emergency situations.
- At least 1 year knowledge and experience in an acute care, emergency department, urgent care, or related clinical experience.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual language skills.
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians while supporting the department's commitment to safety, quality, and compassionate service.
- Administer medications and treatments within LVN scope of practice and hospital policies.
- Assist with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and emergency interventions.
- Monitor and report changes in patient conditions, taking appropriate action and documenting observations.
- Perform basic IV management when appropriately certified.
- Utilize aseptic and infection prevention techniques during treatments and procedures.
- Support patient care through specimen collection, wound care, dressing changes, and other clinical procedures.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, hygiene, comfort measures, and mobility needs.
- Provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care to patients and families during stressful situations.
- Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.
- Accurately obtain and document vital signs and patient assessments.
- Record treatments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
- Assist with patient transportation and coordination of care activities.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation to support continuity of care.
