About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will work in the Med Surg Department at Texas Health Southlake. This role involves collaborating with a team to provide high-quality patient care, utilizing new and advanced equipment in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The LVN will be responsible for patient assessment, risk reduction, data collection, and contributing to process improvements. Texas Health Southlake has served the community since 2004 and is recognized for its advanced surgical specialties and high-quality patient care, holding numerous awards and certifications.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program is required
6 Months in an acute care hospital setting or completion of THR residency program is required
LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire is required
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly is required
PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support 90 Days is required
A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with team to facilitate hourly rounding and initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others’ need for information.
Takes action to reduce/eliminate patient risks.
Collects data and reports significant findings to RN.
Identifies realistic and measurable annual goals for professional nursing development.
Works in partnership with peers, other disciplines, and unlicensed assistive personnel.
Assists in the identification of ineffective and costly processes and takes action to improve those processes.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
