About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will work in the Med Surg Department at Texas Health Southlake. This is a full-time position with day shifts, totaling 36 hours per week, including alternating weekends. The department is equipped with new and advanced equipment and technology, operates in a fast-paced environment, and fosters a collaborative team approach. Texas Health Southlake has served the community since 2004, offering a multi-specialty surgical facility with various surgical specialties and services. The hospital has received numerous awards and recognitions for its quality of care and patient experience.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program is required
6 Months in an acute care hospital setting or completion of THR residency program is required
LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire is required
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly is required
PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support 90 Days is required
A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with team to facilitate hourly rounding and initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others’ need for information.
Takes action to reduce/eliminate patient risks.
Collects data and reports significant findings to RN.
Identifies realistic and measurable annual goals for professional nursing development.
Works in partnership with peers, other disciplines, and unlicensed assistive personnel.
Assists in the identification of ineffective and costly processes and takes action to improve those processes.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
