This specific role is for a Part-Time Licensed Vocational Nurse at the SF - Presidio Terrace Office, assisting physicians with various procedures and ensuring efficient office operations.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice in the State of CA.
  • Dermatology experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems.
  • Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent patient relation and customer services skills.
  • Open availability to work during weekdays.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Flexibility to help cover in a team environment is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for surgery, including scheduling surgeries and preoperative visits, coordinating with surgeons and assistants, and taking preoperative photographs.
  • Performs post-operative care for minor surgeries, such as dressing changes, suture removal, photography, and assisting the MD as needed.
  • Maintains the supply room, surgical equipment, and sterilizes supplies.
  • Stocks operating rooms, recovery rooms, exam rooms, and anesthesia carts.
  • Orders and organizes supplies and maintains log books.
  • Calls in prescriptions as needed.
  • Checks surgical charts for necessary lab work, EKG, chest x-ray, consents, treatment, and instructions, ensuring availability preoperatively.
  • Performs patient counseling.
  • Ensures patients have appropriate discharge instructions for local anesthesia post-operatively and are accompanied by a responsible adult upon discharge.
  • Adheres to infection control and environmental safety practices to reduce the risk of infection.
  • Reports and documents information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Uses safe methods for handling equipment and follows safety rules.
  • Co-ordinates and implements special projects or assignments for the MD or performs other duties as assigned.
