This role is for a Part-Time Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Psychiatric Technician at the Fresno Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF). The facility serves youth, ages 12-17, dealing with acute psychiatric symptoms in a 24/7 inpatient involuntary program with 16 beds. Clinical services include admission, engagement, learning, stabilization, and linkage to resources and aftercare, with intensive treatment programs and individualized care plans.

Requirements

  • A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) is required.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience is required, preferably treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting. (Clinical nursing school rotations may be substituted for work experience).
  • Must obtain valid CPR and Pro-ACT certifications within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing, psychiatric technology, or an associate’s degree in nursing or social sciences is preferred.
  • One (1) year of medication administration experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and documenting clients' physical and mental health status.
  • Administering and documenting medications as prescribed.
  • Communicating any concerns to the Registered Nurse and attending physician.
  • Participating in treatment team meetings, shift exchanges, and daily rounds.
  • Helping coordinate and oversee nursing activities to ensure quality client care.
  • Providing nursing interventions within the scope of licensure.
  • Supporting the admission process by reviewing admission documentation, coordinating admissions, completing required verifications and forms.
  • Helping maintain full utilization of program beds.
