About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for the Emergency Department (ED) at Texas Health Dallas will bring their passion to a team focused on being better together. This is a full-time evening position, working 36 hours per week, with weekend and holiday requirements. The Emergency Department is a fast-paced, high-volume department averaging 200 patients per day, offering self-scheduling for work-life balance, opportunities for educational and career growth, and a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) with engaged leadership.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program required
  • 6 months in an acute care hospital setting or completion of THR residency program required
  • LVN – Licensed Vocational Nursing upon hire required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with team to facilitate hourly rounding and initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Takes action to reduce/eliminate patient risks.
  • Collects data and reports significant findings to RN.
  • Safely administers medication in accordance with medication administration guidelines.
  • Uses nursing models to obtain adequate data to initiate, implement, and revise plans of care to meet patient, physician, and family needs.
