About The Position

Texas Health Fort Worth is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for their Med Surg unit. This is a full-time night position requiring 36 hours per week, with weekend and holiday responsibilities. The role involves collaborating with the healthcare team, administering medications, collecting patient data, demonstrating critical thinking, maintaining professional accountability, partnering with peers, and engaging in continuous improvement. Texas Health Fort Worth is an 851-bed, Magnet-designated hospital serving the Fort Worth community since 1930, offering advanced care in various specialties and recognized for its high-acuity capabilities and commitment to training future physicians. The hospital holds numerous certifications and awards, including being a Comprehensive Cardiac Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program
  • 6 Months in an acute care hospital setting or completion of THR residency program
  • LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually 90 Days
  • NIHSS - National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification maintained every 2 years 90 Days
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with healthcare team to support hourly rounding, patient education, and risk reduction.
  • Administers medications safely and performs technical procedures proficiently.
  • Collects and reports patient data to RN, contributing to individualized care planning.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and adheres to national safety standards.
  • Maintains professional accountability through goal setting, advocacy, and policy compliance.
  • Partners with peers and support staff to enhance clinical competence and adapt to changing needs.
  • Engages in continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and applying evidence-based practices.
