About The Position

The Wound/Ostomy Care LVN works collaboratively under the direction of an RN or physician to provide clinical care to patients with wounds, ostomies, and other unique healthcare needs. Uses and conducts assessments, participates in developing plans of care, and executes skilled interventions. Provides education to patients and their families, and contributes in evaluating treatment interventions as defined by the care/treatment plan. The Wound/Ostomy Care LVN performs direct patient care, administrative duties, and other tasks as assigned, while maintaining flexibility to support the department and organization.

Requirements

  • Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Excellent communication, organization and prioritization skills.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn the internal computer systems to ensure proficiency in Microsoft, Google, EPIC, etc.
  • The ability to lead/facilitate informal, appropriate educational sessions to patients, families and staff.
  • The physical and mental health sufficient to accomplish duties of an LVN in the wound and ostomy care field.
  • Must be flexible for variable start times to support patient care and organizational needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Current national certification in wound and ostomy care management preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years recent acute care LVN or related/equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in wound and ostomy care preferred.

  • Meet Marshall Medical Center’s pharmacology requirements.
