About The Position

New York City Veterinary Group is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join their team. This role involves providing compassionate, high-quality care to pets and supporting their families. The practice has a long history in New York City, with multiple locations and a focus on preventative care. The veterinarian team offers a full range of services, including wellness exams, vaccine planning, dental care, weight management, chronic disease support, and grooming. Employees may be expected to cover shifts at all locations.

Requirements

A Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license required
Friday and Saturday shift availability is mandatory
Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards

Nice To Haves

1+ year professional experience preferred
Additional skills in dental radiography being a plus

Responsibilities

Animal restraint
Triage of incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance
Anesthetic management
