Licensed Veterinary Technician
About The Position
Montpelier Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time or part-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to provide skilled care to patients and exceptional service to clients. The ideal candidate has experience in animal care, client communication, and veterinary procedures, along with a passion for improving the lives of pets and their owners. The role supports veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery, and involves technical procedures, client communication, medical records, and maintaining a clean and prepared hospital environment. The hospital is equipped with X-ray and ultrasound technology.
Requirements
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification.
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
- Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
- Safely and compassionately handle and restrain animals.
- Communicate clearly with clients, including providing care instructions and status updates.
- Perform technical duties such as laboratory work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
- Keep examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
- Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
