Requirements

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, drug calculation, phlebotomy, and IV catheter placement.
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient in emergencies and high-stress situations.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, Google Workspace) and excellent written/verbal communication.
  • Ability to lift and carry animals up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and physical activity.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment with exposure to animal odors, noise, and bodily fluids.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in anesthesia, surgical nursing, or a specialty/referral environment is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Induce, maintain, and monitor patients under general anesthesia, continuously assessing vital parameters and adjusting anesthetic depth as needed.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient status and escalate concerns to the surgeon promptly.
  • Accurately calculate, prepare, and administer anesthetic agents, analgesics, emergency drugs, and other medications, ensuring precise dosing tailored to each patient.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures, maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques, manage instruments, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team throughout each case.
  • Perform venipuncture and collect samples for laboratory analysis, place IV catheters, take radiographs, and assist with the interpretation and documentation of diagnostic findings.
  • Manage patient recovery, monitor for post-surgical complications, administer pain management protocols, and provide attentive, compassionate care to patients who may be critically ill or in pain.
  • Discharge patients, review post-surgical treatment plans, incision care, and follow-up instructions with clients, and support client service operations as needed.
  • Accurately maintain medical records, prescriptions, and controlled drug logs using computer systems, ensure surgical readiness between procedures, and help train and mentor veterinary assistants and new teammates.
