About The Position

Elko Veterinary Clinic is looking for Licensed Veterinary Technicians to join our team. Our busy, full-service mixed animal practice is seeking dedicated team members who are looking to utilize their skills and knowledge. Full-time or Part-time shifts available. New LVT Graduates Encouraged to Apply! Salary: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location. Schedule: Full-time, Four 10-hour shifts per week. Primarily weekdays with rotating weekend support. Part-time, flexible scheduling, including weekend coverage. On-Call: After hours, rotating, on-call scheduling required. Location: 1052 Colt Dr, Elko, NV 89801 Added Benefits: Continuing education allowance (Up to $1000 annually), license reimbursement, scrub allowance, relocation assistance for qualified applicants. Elko Veterinary Clinic has served Elko, Nevada and the surrounding communities since 1953. The practice has grown from a single veterinarian mobile practice to the six veterinarians bustling mixed animal practice that it is today. Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Nevada, or eligible to transfer/acquire state license within 3 months of hire
  • 2+ years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary technician or assistant preferred
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Passion for working with large and small animals, birds, exotics, and their owners
  • Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
  • Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing care in a hospital or ranch setting
  • Proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species
  • Dental procedures including scaling, polishing, extractions, suturing
  • IV Catheter placement
  • Urinary catheter placement
  • Applying casts, bandages and splints
  • Anesthesia monitoring
  • Surgical experience including intubation, monitoring, pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Laboratory skills including cytology set-up and interpretation
  • Diagnostic experience including digital radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis
  • All other duties of a Licensed Veterinary Technician as allowable by law
