About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Midtown is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join its Dermatology team. The schedule is four 10-hour shifts: Monday through Wednesday at the Midtown location and Thursdays at the Brooklyn location. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. The starting pay range is $30.00–$51.00 per hour, dependent on experience and advancement through the CareerTrax leveling system; candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. The technician will provide dermatology-related patient care and diagnostics, support anesthesia and emergency procedures, and communicate with clients and colleagues. Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with different people in high-stress situations.
- Triage patients and obtain patient histories.
- Perform venipuncture and place intravenous catheters.
- Use dermatology terminology.
- Collect samples for otic cytology and ear mite preparation.
- Prepare for skin biopsies.
- Recognize alopecia, nodules, and tumors.
- Monitor anesthesia.
- Perform CPR.
- Perform radiographs.
- Perform diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Prepare prescriptions and communicate discharge orders to clients.
- Use aseptic techniques.
- Perform laboratory procedures and practices.
