About The Position

The Overnight ER Licensed Veterinary Technician provides exceptional nursing care and technical support for critically ill and injured patients in a fast-paced emergency setting. This role works closely with veterinarians to perform advanced diagnostic, treatment, anesthesia, and monitoring procedures while ensuring compassionate patient care and excellent client communication. Emergency Animal Hospital of Collin County (EAHCC) offers the opportunity to work alongside an experienced emergency team dedicated to providing exceptional patient care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. EAHCC provides comprehensive emergency veterinary services, including in-house diagnostics, radiology, ultrasound, emergency surgery, blood and plasma transfusions, oxygen therapy, endoscopy, EKGs, and advanced supportive care. Our collaborative team is committed to delivering outstanding medical care while supporting the needs of pets, clients, and referring veterinarians throughout the community.

Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred
  • Experienced Veterinary Technicians with a minimum of two years of veterinary experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Emergency or specialty veterinary experience preferred.
  • Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
  • Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, radiology safety, and fluid therapy.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required; multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate nursing care to emergency and critical care patients throughout hospitalization and recovery.
  • Triage emergency patients and assist with urgent medical assessments and treatments.
  • Place IV catheters, collect blood samples, administer medications, and manage IV fluid therapy.
  • Assist with emergency diagnostics, supportive therapies, and advanced patient care procedures.
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with emergency and surgical procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture, airway management, oxygen therapy, and other emergency nursing procedures.
  • Process laboratory samples, perform diagnostic testing, and accurately document patient information.
  • Monitor patient status, report changes in condition, and communicate effectively with the medical team.
  • Provide client education, discharge instructions, and compassionate communication during stressful situations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked treatment and emergency areas.
