About The Position

Riverwalk Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join their surgical team in Ridgeland, SC. The practice has been serving the Lowcountry community since 2000 and has cultivated a supportive, low-drama team environment. They are equipped for surgery and dentistry, and value experienced technicians. Surgeries and dentals are performed Monday through Thursday, with no weekend work or on-call duties. This role is suited for a technician who is confident in the surgery suite, skilled in anesthetic monitoring, and ready to be a vital part of a dedicated surgical team.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
  • Active and good-standing Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of SC
  • Proficiency in patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring
  • Proficiency in anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Proficiency in surgical assistance and aseptic technique
  • Proficiency in dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
  • Proficiency in medication administration and accurate drug calculations
  • Strong critical thinking and attention to detail
  • Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with the doctor on the daily flow for surgical and dental procedures
  • Calculating and preparing anesthetic medications and drug dosages
  • Inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia patients
  • Assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures
  • Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
  • Monitoring patient recovery and ongoing procedural care
  • Guiding clients through patient admission and discharge with confidence and compassion
  • Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Assisting in surgery
  • Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
  • Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
  • Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
