About The Position

Nassau Veterinary Clinic is looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join their experienced and collaborative medical team. This role offers the opportunity to stay hands-on, build strong relationships with coworkers, and play an active role in patient care. As a five-doctor, AAHA-accredited practice, Nassau Veterinary Clinic combines modern veterinary medicine with a close-knit atmosphere. They believe talented technicians are essential to excellent medicine and want their LVTs to utilize the skills they have developed.

Requirements

• Current New York State Veterinary Technician license
• Previous clinical veterinary experience
• Proficiency with core technician skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, patient treatments, and anesthesia monitoring
• Strong patient handling and nursing skills
• Dependable and collaborative approach to teamwork
• Professional communication with clients and coworkers
• Interest in continuing to develop clinical knowledge and technical skills

Responsibilities

• Performing venipuncture and placing IV catheters
• Collecting and processing blood, urine, and other laboratory samples
• Preparing patients for surgical and dental procedures
• Monitoring patients throughout anesthesia and recovery
• Obtaining digital and dental radiographs
• Administering medications, vaccines, fluids, and prescribed treatments
• Providing nursing care and monitoring hospitalized patients
• Assisting veterinarians during examinations and procedures
• Reviewing discharge instructions and treatment plans with pet owners
• Maintaining accurate medical records and supporting an efficient treatment area
