Licensed Veterinary Technician/Experienced Assistant
About The Position
Creve Coeur Animal Hospital is looking for a compassionate, motivated veterinary professional to join our busy, six-doctor, AAHA-accredited hospital in West County St. Louis. This opportunity is open to Licensed Veterinary Technicians and experienced Veterinary Assistants with at least two years of hands-on clinical experience. Our team provides high-quality care for dogs, cats, rabbits, pocket pets, and reptiles. Requirements
- At least two years of hands-on veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience
- Confidence with IV catheter placement, venipuncture, laboratory testing, and radiology
- Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance
- Safe, compassionate, and effective patient-handling skills
- Strong communication and client-education abilities
- Ability to take initiative and work independently when needed
- Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced hospital environment
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Positive attitude and willingness to help teammates
- Genuine interest in continued learning and professional growth
Nice To Haves
- Current veterinary technician license or progress toward licensure preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Place IV catheters and collect blood and laboratory samples
- Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
- Perform in-house laboratory testing and assist with diagnostic radiographs
- Prepare patients, equipment, and surgical areas for procedures
- Monitor anesthesia and accurately document patient vital signs
- Provide attentive nursing care throughout treatment and recovery
- Safely handle and restrain dogs, cats, rabbits, pocket pets, and reptiles
- Maintain complete and accurate patient records
- Educate clients about medications, treatments, preventive care, and follow-up instructions
- Work closely with doctors and support staff to deliver exceptional medical care
- Help maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment and surgical areas
