The Facilities Engineering and Design Team at Olsson is a leader in engineering innovation, offering extensive services for a wide array of projects including large commercial developments, healthcare facilities, laboratories, educational institutions, data centers, and military installations. Their expertise encompasses engineering analysis, design services, professional consulting, as well as building inspection and forensic investigation. As a Licensed Structural Engineer within the North Central Facilities Engineering and Design team, the successful candidate will undertake various engineering and project management responsibilities related to the evaluation, design, and construction of projects. This role may also involve assisting in the development of project scopes and schedules, and coordinating the work of other team members. The position may require travel for client meetings or site visits.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering.
  • Must be a registered professional engineer.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience utilizing structural design and drafting software packages.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering (structural emphasis) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design calculations on a diverse range of project types and materials.
  • Prepare design drawings to be used for construction.
  • Prepare project specifications to support construction drawings.
  • Coordinate structural design with architectural and/or other disciplines.
  • Meet project schedules.
  • Attend project meetings with clients.
  • Perform occasional site observations of projects.
  • Apply knowledge and experience with standard techniques, methods, and procedures to assist with coordination of project design aspects.
  • Communicate project development and progress with project managers and/or clients.
  • Enter and maintain project information and client records in the firm’s project management system.
  • May supervise and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.
