This role is for an emerging professional with a few years of career experience looking to grow their career with a respected, employee-owned engineering firm in the Okanagan valley lifestyle. Requirements

  • Degree in civil engineering from accredited university with courses that include structural engineering design and analysis.
  • Registered or eligible as P.Eng with EGBC.
  • 5+ years previous experience in structural engineering or construction.
  • Experience in a consulting firm environment.
  • Inquisitive, clear thinker who can determine what work is required and who can draw rational conclusions from information available.
  • Demonstrated and effective communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Team player with ability to work as part of a group or independently.
  • Strong time management skills to successfully balance working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Fast learner with a desire to grow professionally and personally.
  • Hard worker, ready to assume responsibility quickly and have fun at the same time.
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Project Engineers within the project team environment, through the life cycle of a project from conceptual and preliminary stages of the design through to completion.
  • Engage in site investigation, evaluation of existing buildings, preparation of reports and studies.
  • Structural engineering of existing building components including architectural features, building equipment, and building enclosure components.
  • Structural analysis of existing building structure for revised loading conditions, and seismic upgrade situations.
  • Coordinate with other engineering and architectural disciplines to facilitate projects as prime consultant. This includes assisting the client in developing construction strategies for repair/upgrade work.
  • Contract administration/construction review of the work you design.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis, including basic project costing.
  • Follow quality control procedures established by the practice.
